Long-term motorhome hire: renting by the week or month

Two weeks in France, a month touring Europe or an unhurried winter: what changes when you hire a motorhome by the week or month, how to plan the trip, look after the vehicle along the way and ask for an accurate quote.

Why a long trip changes the rules

On a four-day break every kilometre counts and the clock is in charge. When you hire a motorhome for weeks or months, the pace is different: you can stay an extra day somewhere you like, wait for the rain to pass or change plans as you go.

The logistics change too. It is no longer about leaving with everything full and coming back, but about settling into a routine: where to fill up with water, where to empty, when to do laundry, when to spend a night at a campsite to recharge and rest. This guide covers what to bear in mind.

Unlimited mileage from 7 days

At Segimon Rental, rentals of 3 to 6 days include 300 km per day, with extra kilometres at €0.40. From 7 days, mileage is unlimited. For a long trip this is key: you can plan routes across several countries without counting every detour.

From 7 days the additional driver is also free, so two people can share the long stages. Daily rates depend on the season (€125 low, €150 mid, €180 high and €210 peak, VAT included) and are shown on the booking calendar.

Planning a trip around Europe

Our base is in Les Franqueses del Vallès, next to Granollers and 5 minutes from the AP-7: the French border is 1 h 15 away without crossing Barcelona. From there, plenty of options open up: the south of France, the Alps, the Atlantic coast or routes linking several countries.

Before collecting the motorhome, tell us which countries you plan to visit: the insurance only covers authorised countries, and we check this with you. Look into the specifics of each destination too. In Switzerland, for instance, you need the motorway vignette, and Andorra is outside the EU, so carry your passport or ID card and check the insurance with us.

  • Plan short stages and include days without driving.
  • Book ahead in high season, especially coastal campsites.
  • Use apps such as Park4Night or Campercontact to find campsites and motorhome areas.
  • Check tolls, low-emission zones and local rules in each country.

Your routine on a long trip

With 116 litres of fresh water and 92 litres of grey water, you will usually stop at a campsite or service area every few days to fill and empty. The chemical toilet also sets the rhythm. Build these stops into your route rather than leaving them to the last minute.

Power works the same way: the 300 Ah lithium battery charges while you drive, from the 100 W solar panel and when you hook up to mains power. It gives you several days off-grid with normal use, but autonomy is not unlimited. A campsite night now and then lets you charge fully, do some washing and rest.

Gas runs the heating and hot water. We hand it over full and it must come back full, or the gas used is charged. On a long trip, especially in winter, ask us before you leave how best to manage gas so you do not run short.

Maintenance: a workshop behind the vehicle

Segimon Rental is part of Segimon Automoció, a mechanical workshop. That means the motorhome is checked by our own team before every rental, and there are mechanics behind it who know the vehicle well.

During the trip, the hire includes 24-hour assistance under the insurance. If you notice anything odd, a warning light or a noise you are not happy with, get in touch and we will advise you. On long trips it pays to do a few simple checks regularly.

  • Check tyre pressures every few days and before long stages.
  • Keep an eye on dashboard warning lights and ask about any alert.
  • Make sure doors, windows and roof lights are closed before setting off.
  • Do not overload the vehicle: the maximum authorised mass is 3,500 kg.

The advantages of low season

If you are flexible, a long trip in low season makes a lot of sense: the rate is €125 a day with a 3-day minimum, roads and campsites are quieter, and many places are more enjoyable without the crowds.

The motorhome is winter-ready, with Truma Combi 4 heating, frost protection and a heated grey water tank. Bear in mind that there are fewer hours of sun for the solar panel, that some campsites close out of season and that gas consumption rises in the cold. If you are heading to snowy areas, you can add snow chains as an extra.

How to ask for a quote

We have no published discounts for long rentals, but we will prepare an exact quote for you. The more detail you give us, the more accurate it will be.

Booking works just as for a short rental: request online, 30 % by bank transfer to confirm and the balance 7 days before collection. The €1,000 deposit is held separately on a card.

  • Collection and return dates (and whether they are flexible).
  • Countries you want to visit.
  • Number of travellers and drivers.
  • Extras: bedding, towels, Starlink Mini, e-bikes, pet, snow chains.

Frequently asked questions

Can I hire a motorhome for a month?

Yes. Ask us for a quote with your dates. From 7 days mileage is unlimited and the additional driver is free.

Do you offer a discount for several weeks?

We have no published discounts. The price depends on the season of each day; ask us for a quote and we will tell you the exact amount.
